WHAT IS GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY?

Girls in Aviation Day is an annual global initiative founded by Women in Aviation International (WAI) to inspire girls aged 8 to 18 to explore careers in aviation, aerospace, and STEM. The events connect young participants with industry role models, hands-on activities, and aircraft displays. Launched in 2015, the international event has rapidly grown, now drawing tens of thousands of participants worldwide every September. It is held across dozens of countries, with localized events hosted by WAI chapters, aerospace companies, and flight schools at airports and museums.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT GIAD?

The San Diego Chapter of Women in Aviation will be hosting our annual GIAD on September 19th. We will have static display aircraft, hands-on STEM activities, educational booths covering aviation & aerospace careers, as well as inspiring aviation professionals. FREE lunch will be provided for all youth attendees. To help offset costs, we are asking for a $10 donation from adult attendees.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

GIAD is open to all! Content of the event is focused on girls aged 8 to 18, however we welcome all. Parents and chaperones are welcome to attend as well, but everyone is required to register!

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

The event runs from 10 AM - 2 PM.

It is open-house style, so you may come at any time, and stay for as little or as long as you would like. We will be taking a group photo at 12 PM.
