  • Not at all! Women in Aviation welcomes people from all aviation and aerospace backgrounds, as well as enthusiasts and supporters. Members include pilots, engineers, mechanics, flight attendants, customer service agents, students, and many more.

  • Yes! Students are encouraged to join. WAI offers student memberships, and our chapter often hosts events focused on mentorship, career exploration, and networking for students interested in aviation and aerospace.

  • Please allow 24 hours to receive confirmation of your membership. We recommend adding info@waisandiego.org to your contacts and checking your junk or spam folder incase the message was filtered.

    If you signed up for a student membership, you will receive a request to verify your student status by submitting documentation.

    If you haven’t received any emails within 24 hours of signing up, please contact us at info@waisandiego.org‍ and we’ll be happy to help.

  • We love when members want to get more involved! There are lots of ways to participate, depending on your interests and availability. You can:

    • Volunteer at chapter events

    • Join one of our committees (more information can be found here)

    • Help with outreach or community events

    Keep an eye out on our event announcements on Slack, and make sure to join the Volunteer channel to stay up to date on volunteer opportunities. You can also contact us at vp@waisandiego.org to let us know you’d like to get more involved!

  • Slack is our chapter’s main communication platform. It’s a messaging workspace where members can:

    • Connect with other members

    • Stay updated on chapter news and events

    • Share aviation opportunities and resources

    • Coordinate volunteer activities

    • Ask questions and collaborate

    Think of it as our virtual community hub. Once you join the chapter, you’ll receive an invitation to join our Slack workspace.

  • We love hearing ideas from our members. Whether it’s an event concept, outreach opportunity, speaker suggestion, or partnership idea, we’d love to hear it.
