Women in Aviation San Diego Community outreach
Women in Aviation San Diego is not just about career advancement. We honor every trailblazer who came before us by giving back to our community and uplifting those around us. Through outreach, we get to connect with individuals, educate them about the countless career opportunities in aviation and aerospace, and share stories and advice from our own experiences. We remind them the sky is NOT the limit :)
“If you can see it, you can be it.”
For young girls, seeing women in a male-dominated roles can help dismantle dated stereotypes and societal norms. It can show them what is possible when they work hard and dream big. Mentorship turns abstract goals into real, achievable steps and builds the confidence necessary to succeed.
Our chapter is proud to collaborate with numerous nonprofits and educational groups in Southern California. Our members volunteer with local elementary, middle, and high schools, the San Diego Air and Space Museum, School in the Park, USS Midway, Girl Scouts, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Young Eagles, San Diego 99s, Palomar Airport Association (PAA), Latino Professionals in Aerospace (LPA) , Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Girls on the Run, and more!

Volunteer with us!
If you’re passionate about inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals, you can join our Outreach Committee to help represent WAISD in the community! Members of this committee attend events, share our mission, and engage with future aviators. They also research upcoming events and add them to our chapter spreadsheet and Google Calendar so members know what’s coming up!
Any WAISD member can volunteer at these events.

Need Volunteers?
We always want to engage with our local community! WAISD has a diverse membership of all ages, backgrounds, and aviation careers, including pilots, flight instructors, air traffic controllers, aviation managers, engineers, mechanics, military, and more.
